Hello Sports fans. Today is Friday, June 19, 2026. Happy 19th of June. Today I would like to provide commentary on the Chicago Sky and Kamilla Cardoso. I want to start off by addressing the issues with people on social media that are dogging Cardoso by saying things like; she is lazy, she's not a good player, she fouls too much, she's worthless and on and on. Now, I will give my opinion as an ex ball player and coach and a present day sports consultant. Kamilla Cardoso is not lazy. She is a really good center with talent. Kamilla plays very aggressive and hard for the team in her country of Brazil. In my opinion, I think Kamilla is not happy in Chicago. I think she is not happy because of the coaching. I don't know what Tyler Marsh's problem is. Maybe he is not cut out to be a head coach. Kamilla is not a very verbal individual. She is quiet and shy. She does her job and goes home. She is not going to criticize. Kamilla is also a winner. She is use to playing on winning teams. She gets into foul trouble because she hustles. She not only guards her man, but others as well. She is always trying to help out others on defense. That is why she is always in foul trouble. And you have to admit, there are players on the Sky that do not play very good defense some time. Kamilla is use to playing for a Coach like Dawn Staley that stays on her players to make sure they get it right to win. I watch the Sky's coach on the sideline and he hardly utters a word most of the time. It is a big difference when you come from a Championship team to a losing team, constantly. Another thing I noticed, the Sky does not spread the floor as they should which means when they do finally pass the ball to Kamilla, she has to work twice as hard for her shot because of a double team. The coach needs to work out plays for Cardoso and the point guard like the pick and roll. It works most of the time, but the sky pull away from what works and start jacking up threes from the outside which does not work most of the time. The Sky has very good talent. Their coach is just not utilizing his talent properly. The bottom line, Cardoso is frustrated and I would be too. You can't blame her and as I said she is quiet. She is not going to say anything. She is probably fed up with all the nonsense going on. Blame the coach, not Cardoso. I think Kamilla would be happier with another team, like the Aces, the Valkyries, the Lynx. I have been saying for the past two seasons Kamilla would fit well with the Lynx or Valkyries. Both teams could use a legitimate, talented Big in the starting lineup.
In closing, the Chicago Sky have a bundle of good talent, I know they are nursing injuries and have not played with a full deck all season. I'm not making excuses, just pointing out the obvious. Adding Gabriela Jaquez and Sidney Taylor to the starting lineup was a good move, they both can play. The season is still young and they have time to turn things around. There is no reason the Sky can't make a good playoff run this season with the talent they have. If they don't make it to the playoffs, I'm sorry, it will be time to make a coaching change. And if they do make the change, I would go and hire Candice Parker right off the bat. And if Candice is not available, I would hire Carolyn Peck. This is my assessment of the Sky's team, talent and coaching. Thank you.
